Bancroft's Red Gum Environmental Reserve Guided Walk

Bancroft's Red Gum Environmental Reserve Guided Walk

A WEDFest Green June event!

Members of Currimundi Catchment Care Group, supported by members from Wildlife Preservation Society Qld Sunshine Coast and Hinterland branch will conduct educational tours of Bancroft's Red Gum Environmental Reserve Little Mountain to showcase effective restoration of Wallum ecosystem from formerly cleared grazing land. This was achieved through an 11 year program of annual community tree planting events coordinated by CCCG and the Sunshine Coast Council that commenced in 2009 with 18,000 native trees planted. The event includes displays of before and after photographs, information about the program, a self-guided walk of about 2km including questions on the information provided.

Participants who complete the questionaire will go into the draw for a SeaLife Family Day Pass! There will be a free sausage sizzle and cold drinks available. Bancroft's is an excellent example of the power of community volunteers to help restore an important ecosystem that is now self-sustaining on the edge of suburbia.
